Interacting with Children
“I’m terrified of working with kids,” “I don’t know how to treat kids or how to act around them.” Have you ever heard someone say this? (Maybe you’ve secretly thought this yourself.) Why do people sometimes feel this way? What if it had little to do with natural talent of working with children and more to do with actual skills – social skills for working with children you might say? There are many skills that are important to have as a Sunday School teacher, but the skill of HOW you interact with children will do much for how smoothly your class goes, how much your students want to come to class, as well as how loved they feel leaving your class. These are skills that are important to know and apply whether we’re new at working with kids or someone experienced who just wants to fine tune their interactions with children. In this workshop we will look at practical ways of interacting with children, that will both make us more confident in those interactions, as well as helping communicate more clearly to our students that our class is a safe place where they are cared for and loved.

Teaching the Children to Pray the Model Prayer
Do the children know how to talk with God? Do the teachers or parents know how to talk with God? Can we really talk to and have fellowship with God? Are we really leading the children in what it is to have a personal relationship with God? This workshop will give simple and practical ideas, that can be implemented immediately, to help you grow in your own “alone time” with the Lord and to teach the children (and others) these important truths. This workshop will deal with the instructions given to us from Matthew 6, by Jesus, concerning fellowshipping with God.
